why I love NaNoWriMo (even though I always lose)

why I love NaNoWriMo (even though I always lose)

I sort of “fail” at NaNo every year. If you note my ticker, this year was like many past years. First week strong, second week loses steam. Third week it seems like half of the people around me have already “won” NaNoWriMo and the other

on not “winning” NaNoWriMo

I didn’t “win” at NaNoWriMo this year. I’ve never actually won. The closest I came was in 2008, when I wrote 38,000 words of what would become my “practice novel”. It was the first time I’d ever tried a NaNoWriMo, and I came reasonably close.

progress report, if a zombie tried to write a novel

I’m finding it MUCH harder to get writing done with a three year-old than at any previous age. The “terrible twos” were difficult, in terms of behavior, but the terrible threes are just as terrible, for different reasons. Two year-olds just don’t understand the things

progress report, ch. 6 begs to be written

progress report for the week of 11/2: I think I’ll move my progress reports from Friday to Monday, since I do a lot of my writing on the weekends. And I’ll keep them separate from any other random posts I do. Gotta have some structure

day 18:update

My most natural writing pace seems to be about 1000 words a day, under the 1666 I need to keep on track for the 50,000 words in November. I’m not stressed out about it though. 50,000 words wouldn’t have finished the novel anyway, so I’ll

day 17: oops

Oops, I missed a day. I usually do, during this NaBloPoMo thing, at least once. And it’s usually for no better reason than I just had a simple brain-fart and forgot. The novel was not forgotten though. I actually managed to poach some ideas and
