day 18:update

My most natural writing pace seems to be about 1000 words a day, under the 1666 I need to keep on track for the 50,000 words in November. I’m not stressed out about it though. 50,000 words wouldn’t have finished the novel anyway, so I’ll gladly take longer than that, at my own pace, and not be rushed, or have as much to rework or throw away. November and December maybe? I’d like to have a finished first draft by the end of the year. Yes, let’s make that the goal! Anyway…

NaNoWriMo Stats: end of day 17
26494 words (on track = 30000)

  • oh, i feel like such a loser! There is no way I am going to have a finished draft of my novel by the end of the year and it has taken me two years to write it already! RIDICULOUS. By the way, can you email me your cell no again? I lost my cell phone and am having to do major reconstruction on mine.

  • I think knowing and embracing your natural pace is the best thing you can do. The novel comes first, not the number of words. You’re doing great!

  • Courtney, don’t feel like a loser! You probably wont have to do as much revising as I will 🙂 And don’t forget, I’ve been working on this novel (conceptually) for a LONG time too!

Nova, thanks! I think you’re very right.
